Shanghai-based EDO has turned on the company's 5.6 inch WQHD flexible AMOLED panel which is the first of its kind in China. WQHD stands for a 2560x1440 resolution with 525 ppi.
EDO recognizes that flexible AMOLED display technology is becoming a fovoured choice of the world's top tier brands and is pioneering the drive in China to develop flexible AMOLED displays. Market researchers Displaybank estimates flexible AMOLED display shipments will reach 25 million units in 2015 and the number will grow 32 fold up to 800 million units in 2020, which accounts for 13% of the total shipment in small size display.
With Korean and Japanese manufacturers focusing resources and manpower in R&D and manufacturing in flexible display technologies EDO is aiming to become a third Asian force in the market.
